The Capybee

A shoe made for the river, but just as suitable for land

A shoe made for the river, but just as suitable for land

Overview

Everyone knows that trekking the more treacherous trails ensures access to the best river spots. Unfortunately, few sandals are up to the task. I designed a shoe inspired by the social, peaceful, water-loving Capybara who spends it's life in and around rivers.

Opportunity

The hybrid hiker sandal has come a long way, but in my research I found that the same complaints prevail: debris from the trail and the river get trapped in the shoe, between the materials, and in the velcro.

My goal was to create a hybrid hiker that can remain comfortable for a 5+ mile trek, but offers drainage without the risk of debris.
