Overview
As part of my team's capstone project at the University of Oregon, I served as developer and color and materials lead for Joan of Arc, a women's flag football brand.
Opportunity
Flag football is one of the fastest growing sports in the USA, especially among girls and women. However, this rapid growth has not been supported by the footwear industry. These women’s athletes have been using cleats designed for soccer, men’s tackle football, softball, and lacrosse in order to compete.
Our vision is to create a cleat specifically designed for women’s flag football players to give them a balance between speed and stability while supporting the specific movements unique to the sport. We hope to not only help these women athletes perform at their best, but to empower them and give women’s sports the spotlight it deserves.
The Consumer - The Flag Bearer
Age 18 - 26 living in southeast USA
Playing in college or at a high level club
Trains 4-5 days a week, tournaments on the weekend
Ambitions to play for team USA in the 2028 Olympics
Ride or die for her team

The Siege is a specialized flag football turf and artificial grass cleat built specifically for women. Created using a women’s last, it has maximum comfort and support, giving players the best fit. It’s a synthesis of the best qualities in cleats currently being worn to support the explosive movements unique to the sport.
